 Challenge: Empowering a holiday campaign strategy with insight

Coveo, a leader in enterprise AI search and relevance, wanted to understand how consumers across key global markets were using Generative AI (GenAI) for online shopping to fuel a high-impact holiday season campaign. The goal? Establish clear thought leadership, generate top-tier media coverage, and create a bank of original data that could support marketing and demand generation well beyond the holiday period.

Our role: Data collection that builds brand authority

Arlington Research was commissioned to design and execute a quantitative online survey of 6,000 adults aged 18+ across the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand for the third year of this report. We ensured a nationally representative sample with quotas by gender, age and region, gathering insight into:

  • Consumer openness to GenAI-powered shopping assistants
  • Changes in holiday gifting budgets, priorities and behaviours
  • The role of digital vs. in-store experiences
  • Key purchase drivers, stress points and trust indicators
  • How shoppers are discovering, comparing and choosing gifts

The data revealed that:

  • 72% of consumers would use a GenAI shopping assistant, with 91% of those who’ve tried it ready to use it again.
  • 86% of shoppers feel holiday stress, but 73% plan to give the same or more than last year.
  • 66% say budget influences brand perception more than any other factor.
  • Nearly half (44%) of shoppers plan to split purchases evenly between online and in-store channels.
